Built by the young American team Shadow Racing Cars, the DN3 was designed to take on the giants of the era – Lotus, McLaren, Brabham and Ferrari. In the spring of 1974, on the unforgiving streets of Monte Carlo, the Shadow DN3 etched its name into Formula One history. Jean-Pierre Jarier, calm yet combative, steered the black-liveried car through the tight corners and armco-lined straights to claim a sensational third place. For a young team still finding its footing, that Monaco podium was more than just points — it was a statement that Shadow could fight with the giants, at least for one unforgettable afternoon on the Riviera.
