1969 Fiat 500F

On 4 July 1957, Fiat presented the heir to the "Topolino": the Nuova 500, a super-utility vehicle for all, smaller and more economical than the Fiat 600 that had been powering Italy for two years: together, they would change the course of automotive history.

1957 was a particularly important year for the world and especially for Europe: on 25 March, the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community (EEC) was signed in Rome. While Europe was shaping its future, the Soviet Union launched the first satellite into orbit in history: Sputnik. In this scenario that looks to the future, on July 1 in Rome, Fiat presents exclusively to the Prime Minister the heiress of the glorious "Topolino": the Nuova 500.

Its name, Nuova 500, wants to create a link with the previous Fiat 500, better known by the nickname "Topolino", even though the two models are completely different. Indeed, the new technologies were born from the experience and success of the 600: from the self-supporting body to the independent suspension. The rear section evokes the curved lines of the 600, while at the front the shell engine hood is more modern and also covers part of the mudguards that no longer connect only to the headlights. A canvas roof covers the entire pavilion and the doors opened into the wind.

The mechanics had to be simple so that maintenance costs were also reduced: this is why, after various attempts, Dante Giacosa chose a new air-cooled twin-cylinder engine placed at the rear.

The Fiat 500F presented here was manufactured in 1969. Its displacement is 499.5 cm3 and the power of 18 horsepower, allowing it to exceed the 100 km/h threshold. Very beautiful painting, the interior has been restored recently. It is based in Monaco and available immediately.
